destination weddings worldwide
as a specialist destination wedding photographer, there are certain places in the world that just lend themselves to being ideal wedding destinations. therefore, as a destination wedding photographer, I include these locations on my itinerary, among others of course!
the more popular spots with people from the UK, Ireland and the USA tend to be the caribbean and the bahamas of course, along with cancun in mexico and then towards africa you have mauritius and the seychelles and of course the maldives nearer india. looking more towards cities then apart from the usual european suspects, you have new york and amsterdam. finally, closer to my home in marbella, you have morocco and in particular marrakech.
the caribbean, the bahamas and cancun are very popular with americans of course and international wedding photographers such as myself, often visit these areas in the course of their working year. of course there are a good deal many different islands that make up the caribbean but each one is stunning and an ideal place to get married.
mauritius and the seychelles are stunning islands and popular with residents of the UK and ireland as the time zone is pretty similar to the UK. my own honeymoon was in mauritius and it is a fantastic venue. many package holidays tend to include a stay in both mauritius and the seychelles, so you can experience the best of both worlds.
the maldives meanwhile, again are beautiful desert islands but with a host of top-class hotels. the maldives are a popular honeymoon destination.
I am a big fan of cities though, as from a photographic perspective, they give you lots of opportunities. therefore new york and amsterdam are among my favourite cities. 'new york, new york so good they named it twice', of course holds true. it is a big place though and so great care must be taken with the exact venue in new york as there are just so many to choose from.
amsterdam will always be one of my favourite cities. i had always wanted to live in amsterdam but ended up in marbella instead! the streets and the canals and the architecture make amsterdam a photographers'dream city.
just a stone's throw from my home in marbella, is morocco. there are of course a host of wonderful towns in morocco but marrakech is the city that overshadows them all. very popular with the french of course and full of wonderful french bars and restaurants, marrakech is not for the faint-hearted. but for those of you who want a truly unique wedding, then marrakech is the place for you!
