destination weddings in spain
as an international wedding photographer based in marbella, I cover weddings right across the costa del sol and andalucia and the rest of spain, including the balearic islands, mallorca, ibiza and menorca.
along the costa del sol and andalucia, the most popular venues, apart from marbella, are malaga, granada and seville. all of these towns are beautiful and make a great backdrop for photography.
then places such as gibraltar are very popular (john lennon and yoko ono married in gibraltar!) as a lot of people tend to have a civil ceremony there first before leaving gibraltar and having the reception elsewhere on the costa del sol.
for those who want a relaxed beach wedding, then tarifa is always a popular choice. in fact, anywhere on the costa de la luz is lovely, but tarifa remains the most well-known location, with fantastic views across to morocco.
many couples however, prefer to have a city wedding and so madrid, barcelona and valencia are common choices. barcelona is probably the more popular city to get married in, and is a stunning city venue for a wedding. however madrid is also a beautiful city, with some gorgeous park areas. and valencia being situated on the coast also lends itself wonderfully to photography.
for perhaps a more relaxed wedding, then the balearic islands can�t be beaten. mallorca, with the capital palma de mallorca is a wonderful island and has a much slower pace of life than marbella or the costa del sol. then ibiza is very different with a much younger and livelier atmosphere, which contrasts again with the much quieter menorca. obviously, mallorca is the more well-known and popular island out of the three of them.
